Greg BlahnikObit from the Green Bay Press Gazette.BobBPosted January 28, 2007Blahnik, Robert Our beloved friend, husband, father, son, brother, neighbor, fishing and hunting partner, Packers fan, Lambeau tailgater, Coach Bob, parishioner, salesman, life of the garage party, chef, rugby wingman, team player, lover of life, and one of God's own special people was called to heaven after a courageous year-long struggle with cancer. Bob battled the hardships of his illness with the same fierce devotion he applied to life: with honor, dignity, and his trademark sense of humor surrounded by an awesome support group of family and friends. Robert "Bob" "Blons" Blahnik was born in Green Bay, Wis. on July 9, 1957, the second of five sons to Dr. Gus and Marie Blahnik. He attended parochial school in New Orleans, La., before moving to Green Bay in 1971. He was an Abbot Pennings Squire, graduating in 1975. He received a B.A. from Spring Hill College and later achieved a Masters in Business Administration from Thunderbird University. Early in his career he worked in defense contracting for Hughes Aircraft in Southern California. In 1992 he relocated to our hometown of Green Bay, settling down and marrying his California hottie Kelly (nee Berryman). He was a sales representative for Belson Company for over 12 years. He will always be the loving and devoted father and perfect role model for his three sons, Kory, Tyler and Bobby. His children were his pride and joy of his too shortened life. He enjoyed coaching them and their teammates in all sports programs. Bob was a vibrant and unique man in many ways. He loved life voraciously in all its aspects: his family, his career, his community of friends and coworkers and all the other great Packers fans in section 7. People were naturally drawn to him due to his contagious zest for living. If you could not appreciate the value of a good hard laugh, you never knew Bob. As a rugby player, he tested his mettle in the scrum since the age of 17. He played for many clubs across the country, including the American Eagles, the U.S. traveling team. Those who were lucky enough to see him play always remarked on his toughness and speed. He carried on the game with both grace and class. His other true devotion was for the outdoors. He saw the sunrise many a morning from the quiet of the boat, duck blind, or tree stand. He was forever fond of his four brothers and they in turn of him. He is survived in this world by his loving wife, Kelly; their three sons, Kory, Tyler, and Bobby Blahnik, Green Bay; parents, Dr. Gus and Marie Blahnik, Green Bay; older brother, Scott (Dolly) and nephews, Austin, Chase and Colin Blahnik, New Orleans, La.; younger brothers Mark Blahnik, Costa Mesa, Calif; and Greg (Suzette) and nieces, Courtney and Katie and nephew, Brett Blahnik, Port Orange, Fla.; and youngest brother, Pierre Blahnik, San Luis Obispo, Calif. Also survived by Kelly's parents, Bruno and Barbara Berryman, Orange, Calif.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins also carry memories of Bob with them in this life. Visitation for Bob will be Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth St. De Pere, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held at 8 p.m. led by Pastoral Associate Ann Froelich to close the visitation. Visitation continues on Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, corner of St. Matthew and Webster Ave. Green Bay. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:30 p.m. at church with Fr. Larry Seidl, Pere Gery Meehan O.Praem concelebrating. Please visit www.ryanfh.com to send condolences to the Blahnik family. Special people attract extraordinary companions in life. The Blahnik family would like to acknowledge the support of Fr. Larry, Pastoral Associate Ann Froelich, the teachers, friends, classmates, and parishioners of St. Matthew. A big thank you also to everyone who organized and donated to the Bob Fund Benefit and the whole crew who participated in the home makeover. A special shout out goes to the 9th floor staff at St. Vincent Hospital and the staff of Unity Hospice. Thank you all for doing Heaven's work here on Earth. Our beloved Bob has passed on, but love never dies.

http://www.blahnikeyecare.net/ourpractice.htmBlahnik Eye CareOUR STORY
Greg and Suzette met in optometry school in Memphis in 1987. It was love at first sight for him. For her, it took a great deal of convincing. Nonetheless, we have been a couple ever since. Upon graduation we married in 1991 and moved to Florida to set up practice and residence and family in the Daytona Beach area. We like to think we have a great working relationship as Doctors, husband and wife and parents. One of our secrets to success: we do not discuss business while at home and try not to let our family life interfere with our professional careers. After practicing optometry for 17 years locally, we decided to strike out on our own and opened Blahnik Eye Care in 2009. It was both a challenge and a accomplishment to open a business during a time of dire economic straits, but if you look around you will see the fruits of our labor of love. We are proud to offer compassionate full scope optometric services. The other joy in our lives are our wonderful darling children Courtney, Katie and Brett. Currently Courtney and Katie attend Spruce Creek High. Courtney participates in Cross Country and Track. Katie is on the cheerleading squad. Brett is a student at Creekside Middle and is a standout football player for our local Pop Warner Football Hawks. On any given evening you will find Drs Blahnik supporting their children at their extracurricular activities.Gregory Blahnik, O.D.Dr. Greg Blahnik graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 1990. He received his undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin in 1986. Dr. Greg's interests in eye care range from primary care optometry to providing care for special needs and handicapped individuals of all ages. He has been associated with such programs as the Special Olympics, Lion's Club, and the Center for the Visually Impaired. Currently he works outside of Blahnik Eye Care in community nursing homes and institutional care facilities. He is the staff Optometrist for Tachachale, the largest facility for mentally challenged individuals in the state of Florida.Dr. Greg's personal interest include spectator sports, fishing, music, reading, and home cooking. He also loves being a husband and father and enjoys his second job coaching the Blahnik children in all manner of recreational sports. Dr. Greg is originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin and is a diehard fan of the Green Bay Packers.Suzette Blahnik, O.D.Dr. Suzette Blahnik graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee as salutatorian of her class in 1991. She received her Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of South Florida in Tampa. After graduation, she began practicing in the Daytona Beach area and has served the Volusia County area for the last 18 years. Medically she is trained to treat patients with eye infections, eye inflammations, eye injuries and eye diseases such as glaucoma. She enjoys working with patients of all ages from pediatric to geriatric. She is skilled in difficult contact lens fittings and welcomes any "hard to fit" eyes.Dr. Suzette's interest outside the office include family, fishing, cooking, and gardening. Drs. Suzette and Greg often fish together in local fishing tournaments. The Blahnik family is a busy bunch and consists of three children Courtney 16, Katie 14, and Brett 11. They enjoy and cherish the family moments that make life so special.
