Don G. Blahnik, 82, of Peoria, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Snyder Village in Metamora.    
Born Aug. 15, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a son of Milo G. and Jean L. Baird Blahnik, he first married Marilyn A. Pugh in 1948. He later married Lois Johnson Kern in 1971. She preceded him in death. Last, he married M. Joyce Hockett on Feb. 13, 1986, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Susan (Gary) Weed of Louisville, Ky., Cindy (Herb) Ritchell of Winnetka, and Lori (David Roethe) Blahnik of Madison, Wisc.; three sons, Joe (Debbie) Blahnik of East Peoria, Jeff (Brooke) Blahnik of Peoria, John (Judy) Blahnik of Germantown Hills; 25 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-daughters, Marcia (Jerry) Amm and Marla (Greg) Dell both of St. Louis and Merri Kay Farrar of Terre Haute, Ind.; four step-sons, Scott Kern and Greg Kern both of Peoria, Jay (Patti) Farrar and Todd Farrar, both of Carmel, Ind.; and one sister, Virginia Veach of Webster City, Iowa.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Blahnik worked in electric supply sales, last being employed by Melton Electric in Peoria. He retired in 1992. He was a member of the Peoria Church of the Brethren and the Isaac Walton League in Germantown Hills. Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. The Rev. Dana McNeil will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded.

East Peoria: Joseph Patrick Blahnik (J.P.) 31, passed away at 12:04 p.m. on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
J.P. was born May 29, 1980 in Peoria, Il. the son of Donald (Joe) & Deborah Blahnik. He is survived by his parents; one sister Amy Adams, two nephews, Cole and Chase Adams of Bloomington; Grandparents, Ernie & Marilyn Bain of Peoria, Robert McGuire of Forrest, and Joyce Blahnik of Peoria. J.P. was preceded in death by several grandparents, Lois Blahnik, Donald G. Blahnik, Norma McGuire, and Beverly McGuire. He graduated from East Peoria High School in 1998.
J.P. was a veteran serving in the Marines for four years.  He also attended Illinois Central College and worked for Skaggs Brother's Construction Company.  J.P. was a very loving compassionate person that helped and touched the hearts of many people in the short time he was on this earth. He will be greatly missed.

Brian Blahnik (from Romauld family)  sent and email regarding his family in Cedar Rapids Iowa. He indicates there are two sets of Blahniks in Cedar Rapids.  Bob Blahnik started Blahnik Construction (Business Construction) and Cedar Rapids has a Bohemian section that has a Czech Museum.  He is looking for more information about the Blahnik lines there so that maybe we can add a genealogy branch to this site.

Emma Vtipil Blahnik,102, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, July 26, 1995, in Grandview Heights Nursing Home, Marshalltown, after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. George Bishop. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Jewel Blahnik of Marshalltown; a grandson, Richard Blahnik Jr. of Des Moines; and a sister-in-law, Louise Kosina of Swisher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and two sons, Charles of Cedar Rapids and Richard Sr. of Marshalltown.
Born June 19, 1893, in Pusta Kamenice, Czechoslovakia, Emma was the daughter of Frank and Anna Vtipil. She came to the United States in 1905 and attended public school in Solon. On Oct. 12, 1915, she married Charles F. Blahnik in Cedar Rapids. Emma was a homemaker and very active at Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church for many years. She was a member and past president of Tabitha Society. She moved to Marshalltown in 1990.
