from Susan Blahnik
Hi Lori...So surprised to hear from you. I didn't expect you to even remember that I was waiting to see you at the Blahnik reunion, but it was so busy and I totally understood that you can't deal with everyone on that one day. I looked up some information on my grandparents. I did find out that my grandfather was Edward M. Blahnik and his wife was Clara Siebel. I know they were from the Branch area or somewhere in that Blahnik family. I did hear that my grandfather ran a cheese factory years ago. My Mom does not talk too much about it, she is 93 now. I wanted to bring her to the reunion but then she has a hard time getting around and so maybe the next one if she is able. Her parents were divorced I know that, but I do remember my grandfather even tho I didn't see him that much. He worked at Lakeside Packing company in his later years after his divorce from my grandmother. My mother told me my grandfather spent all the money he got for the sale of his cheese factory and so that caused issues between him and my grandfather. It was strange that my Mom was a Blahnik, she married Milton Hanson and then I in turn was a Hanson and married a Blahnik, that is why it was so confusing at the reunion. Also, we were a bit late getting to the reunion since our daughter flew in from NY to Green Bay and her plane was late. Had we been there on time, I might have caught to be in another picture.
It would be interesting to find out about my Blahnik family and in looking at Ancestry.com I did see my grandfather came from Cooperstown I think but that is about all I found out, other than the things I knew, how many children he had, etc.
It was so kind and nice of you to drop me this e-mail, I can't tell you how happy I am to hear from you. We so enjoyed the reunion, but will be easier now that we know somewhat of what to do and how to find our other relatives, etc. I think it is so interesting. I know how much work you have put into this, so we thank you so much.
