Subject: Barbara HolubLori, Below is some of what my sister sent me about my Holub ancestors. Don't know if any of it will help you with your Holub family records and research or not. LauraJohn Nemetz (Nemec) was born May 3, 1858 in MrdaRov(sp?), Bohemia. (This is what was recorded on the marriage registration I have a copy ofit is hard to read the handwriting. I was told he was from Domazlice.) He fled from Bohemia to Germany to escape the draft and worked there for awhile before immigrateing to the united states at about the age of eighteen. He paid his own way.Barbara Holub was born in Nov? of 1865 in Nova Gdyn, Bohemia. (This is what was recorded on the marriage registration. I was told she was also from Domazlice). She immigrated to the United States at about sixteen years of age. Her mothers brother, ? Schweiner, sponsored her. John Nemec and Barbara Holub married on November 25, 1884 in the St. Lawrence Catholic Parish, Franklin Township, Kewaunee County, Wisconsin. They lived in Menominee, Michigan for awhile before settling in Oconto County, Wisconsin. Some time after they married, they brought Barbaras parents George and Anna (Schweiner) Holub and also her sister Anna Holub to the United States. Barbaras sister Anna Holub married Frank Petenzelka. They lived in Deerbrook near Antigo, Langlade County, Wisconsin, then maybe later in Chicago, Illinois. They had several children; some lived in Berwyn, Illinois and some in and around Deerbrook.George Holub died in 1905. Anna (Schweiner) Holub died in 1922.
John Nemetz died on May 27, 1939. Barbara (Holub) Nemetz died on May 2, 1929.
All four are buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, Town of Spruce, Oconto County, Wisconsin

I just received a copy of my ancestor George Holub's death certificate that I ordered through the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. It records his birth date as December 31, 1830 in Bohemia. His death date was recorded as June 13, 1906 in Lena, Oconto County, Wisconsin. His father's name was recorded as Michel Holub (spelling of "e" isn't real clear) and mother's name was recorded as Annie Holub (as well as his wife's). Both parents were born in Bohemia, also. Unfortunately, no town name is given for all three, but we do know his daughter Barbara Holub Nemec/Nemetz was born in Nova Gdyn.
