Monk, Ervin R
Ervin (Bob) Monk, 68, Sturgeon Bay, died at Door County Memorial Hospital on July 14, 2008. He was born July 28, 1939, in Two Rivers, to Ervin and Katherine (Bronk) Monk. Ervin served in the U. S. Army with 101st Airborne from 1957 to 1960. On March 25, 1961, he married Ruth Schmidt at St. Peters Lutheran Church, at Mishicot. Ervin worked as a Powerbender Operator for Formrite Tube Company until his retirement. He was a life long member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Two Rivers; Salem Lutheran Church after his retirement and moving to Door County in 2001; West Shore Sportsman Club, Lutheran Men's Bowling League and Men's Slowpitch softball league in Two Rivers. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Kaylene (James) Nixon, Two Rivers; Lorna (Kent) Palazzo, Algoma; a son, Ervin William (Mary) Monk, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren, Leanne, Kristin, Jason, Joshua, Anthony, Adam, Matthew and Paul; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Leona (Walter) Christoffel, Two Rivers; nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward Levy.
Memorial Services will be 4 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at Salem Lutheran Church, the Rev. John Seelman officiating. A visitation will take place after 2 p.m. Friday at the church until time of services. Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church or Manitowc Lutheran High School in his memory.
