Gladys B. Uhl, 78, S. 23rd Road, Coleman, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at home. The daughter of the late Emil and Emma (Blahnik) Schingeck was born on March 13, 1931, at Marinette. Gladys was a 1949 graduate of Marinette High School and a 1951 graduate of Marinette County Teachers College. She taught school from 1951 until 1957 at the Section Eight, Lincoln, and the Woulf Schools. On April 19, 1952, she was married to Neal Uhl at St. James Lutheran Church, Marinette. Gladys farmed with her husband in the Town of Pound, owned and operated Uhl Like It Here Tavern in Coleman, and the Uhl Lanes in Coleman. She was a very avid lover of flowers and birds. Gladys was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Coleman.Surviving are four children, Terry (Carolyn) Uhl, Kerry (Wayne) Maedke, Jodi (Gary) Maedke, and Kelly (Ken) VanDrisse, all of Coleman; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald Schingeck, Crivitz; Arnold and Richard Schingeck, both of Marinette; two sisters, Doris Laitinen, Daggett, Mich.; and Margie Wyman, Antigo; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Schingeck, Milwaukee; and Roxanne Schingeck, Oconto; and one brother-in-law, Mack Uhl, Hawaii.Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neal in 2007; two sons, Bart and Bruce; four brothers and two sisters-in-law.Friends may call at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Coleman, from 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2009, until time of services. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. Gregory Stahlecker officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Pound. Pallbearers will be Wayne and Gary Maedke, Ken VanDrisse, Cody Maedke, Eric Uhl, and Charles Brumm. Honorary pallbearers will be Trevor and Tanner VanDrisse. Collected by Bob BlahnikTerry Neal Uhl, 58, of Coleman died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, Feb. 5 at his home on Belgium Road.
Born Sept. 1, 1954 to the late Neal and Gladys (Schingeck) Uhl, he married the former, Carolyn Bickel on Oct. 13, 1979 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Oconto.
He loved farming and enjoyed working the majority of his life until his illness in 2003. Since then he spent his time vacationing, visiting and enjoying time with family. He loved collecting tractors, watching the Packers and playing with the family dog.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Carolyn; three daughters, Tami, Crystal and Brooke Uhl, all of Coleman; a son, Eric (Carolyn) Uhl of Grand Forks, N.D.; two grandchildren and three sisters, Kelly (Ken) VanDrisse of Pound and Kerry (Wayne) Maedke and Jodi (Gary) Maedke, both of Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bart and Bruce Uhl. The family will greet family and friends at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Beaver on Friday, Feb. 8 from 4 p.m. until time of the memorial service at 8 p.m. with Pastor Mark Hannemann officiating. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman is assisting the family.
