Obit submitted by Bob BlahnikWilliam Swagel (1961 - 2011) Visit Guest BookWilliam (Bill) Swagel, 50, West Kewaunee, died unexpectedly at home of natural causes on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011. He was born in Shawano, Wis., on Jan. 22, 1961, to Ray and Betty (Dvorak) Swagel.He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1979 and in 1980, from Lakeshore Technical School. He farmed all of his life on the third generation family farm in West Kewaunee.He was a lifelong member of St. John Church in Krok, now St. Therese Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lakeshore Technical Board and N.W.T.C. Young Farmers Board, Kewaunee Dartball League.Survivors include his parents, Kewaunee; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Joseph Swagel, Kewaunee; Milton Swagel, Kewaunee; James and Tammy Swagel, Reedsburg; Michael Swagel, Kewaunee; one sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Rick Meister, Reedsburg; two nephews, Jonathon and Timothy Meister; and one niece, Jessica Swagel. Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Lillian (Blahnik)Swagel; and his maternal grandparents, Adolph and Martha Dvorak.Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. A parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m. led by Fr. Dennis Drury. Visitation continues on Thursday at St. Joseph Church in Pilson from 10 a.m. until the time of services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Fr. Dennis Drury and Dcn. Robert Pribek officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Krok following the funeral lunch at the church.
