Shimon age 89 of 9025 Cty Hwy T Whitelaw, died Friday night, May 24, 2013 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center. The former Irene Chizek was born on March 4, 1924 in the Town of Franklin, Manitowoc County daughter of the late Frank and Ceila (Cigler) Chizek. She attended local schools. On June 9, 1945 she was married to Edwin F. Shimon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. The couple farmed in the Town's of Franklin and Kossuth. Survivors include her husband: Edwin F. Shimon, Whitelaw; two daughters and sons-in-law: Janet (Leslie) Holschbach, Cape Coral, FL; Kay (Wayne) Craig, New Holstein; one grandson: Rudy Craig, New Holstein; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Clarence (Donna) Shimon, Manitowoc; Helen Connoly, Neenah; special family friends: Jim (Lucy) Newman, Sheboygan Falls; Scott (Crystal) Schenian, Menchalville; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Ceila Chizek; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Joe (Rose) Chizek; Louis (Marcella) Chizek; three sisters and three brothers-in-law: Dr. Kathryn (Irving) Bemmann; Helen (Rudy) Mleziva; Emma (Victor) Schenian; three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Victor (Blanche) Shimon; Viola Shimon; Clarence Connoly; Blanche (Clarence) Kornely. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. Cremation has taken place with burial of her cremated remains at the Kossuth National Cemetery.
