Grall, age 87, of 960 South Rapids Road, Manitowoc, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.LaVerne was born on August 12, 1923, in Maple Grove, daughter of the late Theodore and Ella (Collins) Meyer. On November 16, 1946, she married Richard Grall at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Maple Grove. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2001. In 1960, LaVerne and her husband Richard built and co-owned the 141 Speedway in Francis Creek. She enjoyed flower gardening, vegetable gardening and her beloved dogs.Survivors include two sisters: Catherine Anderson, Manitowoc; Shirley Blahnik, Kellnersville; one brother and three sisters-in-law: Wayne (Diane) Meyer, Whitelaw; Pat Meyer, Grimms; June Meyer, Dixon, IL. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; three brothers: Robert Meyer, Harold Meyer and Theodore Meyer; two brothers-in-law: Edward Blahnik and Andy Anderson; three nieces: Terri Ellen, Cheryl, and Marsha.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011, at the Knollwood Mausoleum Chapel, 1500 Hwy 310, Manitowoc. Deacon Al Boeldt will officiate with burial to follow in Knollwood Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville is assisting the Grall family. She enjoyed flowers, bowling, and golfing.Survivors include one daughter: Sheila A. Hees, Greenfield; stepchildren: John (Mea) Andersen, Lake Villa, IL; Tom (Sue) Andersen, Manitowoc; Kay (Glenn) Gadzinski, Manitowoc; seven step grandchildren; one sister: Shirley Blahnik, Kellnersville; one brother and three sisters-in-law: Wayne (Diane) Meyer, Whitelaw; Pat Meyer, Grimms; June Meyer, Dixon, IL. Michigan, USAEthel Helen Blahnik, 89 of Escanaba, Michigan, passed away on June 28, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital after a brief hospitalization. In her final days, she spoke about her desire to go home to Jesus.Ethel was born on September 20, 1920 in Escanaba, the much adored and beloved daughter of John Blahnik and Emma (Lyens) Blahnik who preceded her in death.She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1939. Her first venture in the working world was Thompson's Bakery. She later worked for Dr. Carlson. Ethel retired from the Escanaba Daily Press in 1980 after 22 years of employment to care for her ailing mother.Ethel was a very kind, caring and loving individual who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her parents and the many cousins and their children whom she considered her family. Ethel had a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor. She loved to tease or "kid-around" with people. She always had a smile or kind word for everyone she encountered.Ethel was an only child and never married. She was survived by her close cousin, Mrs. Dorothy Koth whom she loved like a sister and Dorothy's children, Karen (John) Kelly, Paul (Sherri) Koth and Jody (Thomas) Jaeger and many additional cousins.She was a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church and a former member of St. Patrick's Guild and Business and Professional Woman Club (BPW).Buried with her parents.Burial:
