hi Lori,I just love receiving your very interesting mail. I am still mind-blown as to all the research that you and the family have done.
Unfortunately my grandfather was a widow since I was born in 1965, that he never really spoke about his side of the family. My father Richard Blacknik was an only child, he did have a brother who I think died at childbirth. I will try to find some old photos to post on the website.
Ok, well like I said before, thank you so much for contacting me and letting me know all the great history of the Blachnik's/Blacknik's. I remember as a child in school kids would make fun of my name, since I grew up in an Italian neighborhood. lol. They would call me Blackink to be funny. Well I am proud to be a Blacknik to this day, although I married a kraut named Becker almost 19 years ago. It's also nice seeing the first names of some of them.Well keep in touch, I will check out the website for more info.

1926 - 2008Coletta M. Sewald, 82, of Sterling died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, in Johnstown. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Tennant Funeral Home with Vigil and Rosary to follow. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow celebrating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.Coletta was born on May 6, 1926, in St. Peters to John and Eva (Foxhoven) Becker. She graduated from St. Anthony�s High School.On Oct. 7, 1944 she married Paul Sewald at St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, a member of the Alter and Rosary Society, Legion of Mary, and the Immaculate Conception Circle.She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, and attending her grandchildren�s athletic competitions.Coletta is survived by her daughters Geralyn Hemphill and husband Doug of White Rock, N.M., Jean Blahnik of Appleton, Wis., Colleen Richards and husband Randy of Fort Lupton;
12 grandchildren: Daniel and Kristen Hemphill of Fort Collins; Michael and Kevin Hemphill of White Rock, N.M.; Rahn, Rory, Rhett, and Randee Richards of Fort Lupton; James Opfer, Jacey Mueller and husband Brad,and John Blahnik, all of Appleton, Wis.;
Kayla Sewald of Milwaukee, WI; one great-grandchild, Riley Mueller of Appleton, Wis.; sisters, Christine Gollobith, Pauline Hays, Helen Callow, Mary Bridges; and brothers, Florence, Bill, and Bob Becker.Coletta was preceded in death by her husband Paul, parents John and Eva, and sister Betty Sewald.
Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Anthony�s Scholarship Fund, 326 S. Third St., Sterling, CO 80751.

Of Pittsburgh and North Ft. Myers, FL, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, age 78; she was the wife of the late Melvin S. Blahnik; she is survived by brothers Arthur and Harry McMarr and ten nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral service at 1:30 pm Saturday, June 26, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Allegheny County Memorial Park, Duncan Ave., Allison Park. Arrangements by H.P. Died Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Meriter Health Center. Florence was born at her parents Otto and Martha Opetz home on the North Side of Milwaukee August 25, 1907.Florence married John Blahnik in 1930. John was a master welder with Super Steel Company, Milwaukee. Their son, Glen David was born in 1938. They resided at Santa Monica Blvd. Fox Point, WI for nearly 60 years.. They left their beloved home and moved to the Methodist Retirement Center (Meriter Retirement Center) in 1990.She courageously bore the loss of her husband John in 1994 and her only son Glen in 1998. She will be missed by her daughter-in-law Doris Moody and her granddaughters and husbands Kristin and Kevin Attaway and Alison and John Scherer. She was fondly known as GG to her two great-grandchildren Caitlin and Conor Attaway.
