Title: Jenny Hanisch
5/16/2013Hello, I found this site online and was really wowed! I was born Jennifer Blachnik from Yankton, South Dakota. My father was Alois George Blachnik and my paternal grandfather was Alois A. Blachnik. Great paternal grandfather from Tabor in Bon Homme, South Dakota was Charles Blachnik who came to America at age 17 years with his father Frank Blachnik. I have no records from the old country except what was verbally passed down to me. I think my fathers family came to America prior to 1900 perhaps because of the political instabilities leading into WWI. They appeared to be a wealthy family but I know little about the origins of their wealth. In America at Tabor, my grandfather and 2 of his brothers were given money to start a butcher shop. Charles Blachnik moved to Yankton as he got older, his wife(my great grandmother) only spoke Czech. My impression was that she was the Czech in my fathers family and that the Blachniks were from Moravia. I have an older brother that carries this DNA bloodline I read you are researching. He is 73 and has not fathered any children, my sister and I both have. Please let me know how to join your group! Jenny Blachnik Hanisch
