Lloyd Grimm, Father of 3, Fatally Injured;
Hold Denmark Man as Hit-Run Driver
--------------
Two Rivers- Fatally injured when struck by a hit and run auto at a downtown Green ay intersection about 4:00 o'clock p.m. Wednesday of last week, Lloyd M. Grimm, 31-year old route 1, Two Rivers farmer and father of three boys, died about an hour later at St, Mary hospital in Green Bay. His wife, Sylvia, who with their 3-year old son Jimmy accompanied Grimm to Green Bay was unaware that it was her husband who had been struck while she shopped in a store at the intersection where the accident occurred. It was only after she had waited for her husband in the family car for about half an hour, during which he failed to return as expected, that her inquiries of Green Bay police brought her news of the fatal accident. The driver of the death car, Francis Kennedy, 37, route 3, Denmark, fled the scene of the accident, but reported to Green Bay police 90 minutes later and admitted it was his auto that struck Grimm. He told police he was cofused by the accident and drove off. Meanwhile, Green Bay police had broadcast a general alarm throughout northeastern Wisconsin after a witness to the mishap reported that he had noted the license number of the hit and run car as it sped away. Funeral rites were held Saturday morning at St. Lukes Catholic church here with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. C.V. Hugo officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery. Grimm, who always resided on route 2, Two Rivers farm, was born there Feb. 8, 1918, the son of Mtr. and Mrs. Anton Grimm. His father died when Lloyd was three years old. As a youth, while attending school in this city and later attending St. Norbert high school in DePere, he assited his mother in the operation of their 90-acre farm. On June 30, 1942, he married the former Sylvia Walecka, and they made their home on the Grimm farm. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are 3 sons, John, 3, Billy, age 2, and Jimmy, 4 months.
