Obituary: Walecka, Elizabeth (Betty) AckermanElizabeth (Betty) Ackerman Walecka, age 80, of Potomac Falls, VA, died June 22, 2009. Born June 2, 1929, in Algoma, WI, to the late Carl and Florence (Perry) Ackerman, Betty graduated from Algoma High School in 1947, and from Lawrence College in 1951. She married Norbert Walecka of Kewaunee on June 20,1951, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Algoma, WI. Lt. Col. Walecka (US Air Force Retired) preceded her in death in 2006.Mrs. Walecka accompanied her husband throughout his military career, living in Massachusetts, Germany, Michigan, California, Alabama and Virginia. After raising their five children, she studied library science at George Mason University. She worked as a librarian in the Fairfax County VA school system and, in retirement, she volunteered as parish librarian for St. Lukes Catholic Church, McLean. She was an avid reader and book club member.Survivors include two sons, Paul, Newport Coast, CA, Mark, Silver Spring, MD; three daughters, Carla, Los Angeles, CA, Anne, Herndon, VA, Mary, Herndon, VA; eight grandchildren; brother Charles Ackerman of Green Bay, WI; and sister Sara Guth of Algoma, WI.Friends called at Adams-Green Funeral Home, Herndon, VA. Mass of Christian Burial was held on June 30th, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, McLean, VA. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery on July 24, 2009.

Sylvester J. Hruska, 79, Rt.2, Kewaunee, died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home. He married the former Antonia Walecka Aug. 14, 1914 at Krok. Survivors include his wife: one son, Joseph, Two Rivers; two daughters, Mrs. Glen (Marcella) Nimmer, Luxemburg; Mrs. Anton (Sylvia) Albrecht, Kewaunee; one sisterl Mrs. Milos (Anna) Walecka, Rt.1, Two Rivers; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Buchanam-Swoboda Funeral Home, Kewaunee; after 3 p.m. Friday, Rosary 8:30 p.m. Friday. Funeral 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Hedwig Church, East Krok, with the Rev. Sylvester Hruska Died Wednesday
Sylvester Hruska, a very prominent retired farmer of the Town of Montpelier, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday afternoon of last week. He had been active, as usual, during the day and was stricken shortly after returning to his home after being out of doors. Mr. Hruska was seventy-nine years of age at the time of his death. He was born in Montpelier on December 31, 1893, a son of the late John and Anna Schleis Hruska. After reaching young manhood he was employed as a cheesemaker in the Stangelville area until 1917, when he acquired a farm and engaged in agricultural pursuits until his retirement a few years ago. He was married to thr former Antonia Walecka on August 14, 1914 in St. John Church at Krok. She survives him with a son, Joseph of Two Rivers R 1; two daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Marcella) Nimmer of Luxemburg, and Mrs. Anton (Sylvia) Albrecht of Kewaunee; a sister, Mrs. Milos (Anna) Walecka of rural Two Rivers; Thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The Buchanan-Svoboda Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements. The services were held on Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock in St. Hedwig's Church at East Krok with the Rev. Joseph Tomczyk officiating and interment was in St, John's Cemetery at Krok. Mr. Hruska was a friendly and personable gentleman who was widely known in the area in which he spent his lifetime and the announcement of his sudden passing came as a shock to his many friends, who held him in high regard.

(August 8, 1918 - January 23, 2014) Sylvia Albrecht passed peacefully into eternal life with family present on January 23, 2014 at age 95 reuniting with her loving husband of 64 years Anton (Tony). She was beloved mother of Betty (Paul) Glatzel, Grandchildren, Scott Glatzel and Gerald Glatzel. Brother Joseph (Josie) Hruska, sister Marcella & late Glen Nimmer and sister-in-law Betty Schleis McSwan. Further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Sylvia was born and grew up on the family farm in Stangelville. She married Tony and settled in Kewaunee where she was a homemaker enjoying cooking, sewing, gardening and visiting with friends and family. Tony and Sylvia were active in Holy Rosary Parish and the Kewaunee VFW post. She moved to Alexian Village in Milwaukee in 2006 to be closer to her daughter and family after Tony's death. All who knew her both at Alexian and in Kewaunee always found her to have a smile and be a kind and very nice lady. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 27 at Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee until the time of services. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. James Dillenberg officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff and residents at Alexian Village for their care, kindness, and friendship over Sylvia's last years. Albrecht, Anton E. (Tony)Anton E. (Tony) Albrecht, 89, Kewaunee, died Thursday, June 9, 2005. He was born Feb, 18, 1916, in Kewaunee to the late Anton and Anna (Dworak) Albrecht Schleis. He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1934. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps in England during World War II. He was a co-owner of Dworak-Albrecht Motors for over 30 years until retiring. He was a lifelong active member of Holy Rosary Church and a member of V.F.W. Post 3392 of Kewaunee. He was a very avid Packers fan and season-ticket holder since before Lambeau Field was built. Tony was interested in all types of sports, including softball, which he enjoyed playing. He married Sylvia Hruska June 7, 1941, at St. Lawrence Church, Stangelville.Survivors include his wife of 64 years; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Paul Glatzel, Nashotah, Wis.; two grandsons, Scott and Gerald Glatzel.He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Matt Schleis, and two step-brothers, Joe and Matt Schleis.Friends may call after 5 p.m. Sunday at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. V.F.W. services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday after 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church until time of services. Funeral services for Edward L. Marsicek, 77, and his wife Laura M. Marcicek, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Harper Funeral Home with Father Clement Pangratz officiating. Burial will be at Mount Angeles Memorial Park. Mr. Marsicek died Monday in a Seattle Hospital. Mrs. Marsicek died Saturday in Port Angeles. Their home was on Rt. 3. He was born March 13, 1897, in Kewaunee County, Wis., the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Marsicek. She was born April 17, 1898, in Kewaunee County, Wis., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wencil Walecka. They were married in Wisconsin and worked their farm there most of their life, moving to Port Angeles in 1953. Mr. Marsicek worked as a caretaker with the U.S. National Park Service until retirement. He is a veteran of World War I. They are survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Crome of Rosemead, California., and Mrs. Gladys Mason of San Diego, Calif., eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Henry Marsicek of Michigan; and two sisters, Mary Kliekamp of Michigan and Anna Knapmiller of Wisconsin.
Mrs. Marsicek is survived by a brother, Joseph Walecka of Kewaunee, Wis., and two sisters, Mrs. Antonia Hruska and Mrs. Catherine Hruska, both of Kewaunee.
Pallbearers for both will be Robert Marsicek, Lewis Rumbaugh, Steven Crozier and Geoffrey Anderson.
