BIOGRAPHY: John Doehler was a well-to-do farmer and owner of a grist mill in the town of Montepiler in 1880. Newspapaer clipping from Betty Tikalsky.BIOGRAPHY: John Dohler appeared at the county of Manitowoc, Wisconsin stating that he was born in Bavaria around 1831 and that he emigrated to the US and landed at the port of Buffalo on or about the month of Sept in 1855 and that he intends to become a US citizen. John Dohler of Montpelier has bought of the Cooper Manufacturing Company of Mount Vernon, Ohio, through their agents, Brun & Hlawacek, a complete outfit for a saw and grist mill to be put up on his place in Montpelier. The building will be put up by Mr. Dohler, and will be of stone with slate roof, and its dimensions will be 72 feet in length by 36 in width, and 35 feet high..
. Mr. Dohler expects to have the mill completed and ready for business in August next.BIOGRAPHY: Newspaper clipping from Betty Tikalsky, Jan 1881. Dohler has leased for two years, his new mill in Montpelier to his miller for $400 a year.
Dohler's mill cost $12,000. In the agreement, Dohler will get so much lumber cut and so much grain ground so that Dohler makes 10% on his investment.Nancy Janda
