Among the first Czech settlers were JAN STIKA from Jankov near Velky Cakov and Vojtech Stransky from Velka Retova. ==================OK--Hubbards are related to Blahniks (I think the Algoma branch) back through the family history of the Woracek family. There was a Fran Woracek who came to Wisconsin in 1848 (very, very early) from the village of Nystedo (spelling--). (It could be Nyrsko!!) His son Albert Woracek was born also in Hlinsko (Ceske Budovice area) and then set up in Sister Bay the old Woracek hotel which is about 1 mile north of the village and now is known at Hub's Motel & Pier. Half of that hotel burned, in the 1940's, but 1/2 of it still remains. I worked on that property in Junior high school during the summers. That Woracek family married into the Bunda family who lived also here in Sister Bay and were important merchants. Also in this blood line of Woracek there was a Strika family from Tankov (w) and also a Koudelka family from Kralovice. Then going back into a generation there were a whole bunch of Blahniks that married into the Woraceks. or vice versa!!!!!! Joel Blahnik 5/2013
===================
From John Ouradnik: John (Jan) Ouradnik born c 1844
"...When talk began about America, John Stika decided to seek his fortune in America. He sold his belongings in the year od 1855 and set out for America. My brother Josef accompanied him, at only the age of 12 summers. (Joseph Ouradnik September 20, 1842)
When they arrived in America, they travelled directly to the State of Wisconsin, Kewaunee County, where he (Stika) purchased whole sections of land and where he settled; where he started to cut out (clear) the forest so he could build some kind of shelter. From America to my parents he wrote that they should follow him, that he will give them 40 acres of land. Mother was very lonesome for her son Josef and often wept for him. Little wonder that in two years we followed them.
.... Jan 3, 1894 I purchased the farm from Jan Sticka for the sum of 1600 dollars, $1550 for the land and $50 for the machinery. Altogether 80 acres."

I just received information from the Czech Republic of where the Stika, Lukes, Opicka, Ouradnick, came from. Jankovska Lhota, a small village of 35 farms. South of Prague. Records in Prague. Jan/Johann was the first to imigrate to the Slovan area in 1855. Katherine was an Ouradnick. Most of the other families from village of Jankovska Lhota, came on the ship, Leontine August 31, 1857 to the Slovan area.

Subject: Blahnik - report 2Hi JonI am very very sorry but I have still not the picture of first record. I take mew camera to archives on Wednesday and I am consterned two first picture I took are out. That's why I send the picture of record number two.
I continued in research 3 hours and I tryed to find siblings of Wenzl Blahnik and another members of Blahnik's family. I found: Jakub Blahnik and Anna Kupsch had 8 children: Maria 1802, Marianna 1803, Katharina 1806, Anna 1808 + , Josef 1809, Anna 1811, Jan 1813 + and Jan 1814.Josef is your ancestor.Jan (1814) married 1841 to Maria Neidl. They had 6 children. Jan was the smith in Radonice village. It is possible they can be somedescendants there.Katharina married 1836 to Lorenz Kraus. I know about their 2 child -
Karel 1836 and Michael 1837 + 1855. Jakub was at first daylabourer in manor's estate in Novy Dvur. Later he owned the house number 5 in Novy Dvur (not Nova Ves as I wrote in # 2 - please repare it there). He died before 1843.Josef Blahnik and Lorenz Kraus married in age over 30 years. They were soldiers before. The army service was over 7 years in that time. They married as veterans.I worked 5 hours in archives to this time and about 4 hours by translation and transscription of records. It is 1 hous rest of your deposit.I ordered the census of Stanetice for next week to researching room in our archives. I will find if somebody of Josef's family stood in Stanetice or all emigrated to America.All the best.

===========I send you some new records I found.
The record # 50 I sent to you in last report contain the birth's information of Jakob Blahnik born 1777. I found he died one year old 1st Apr 1778. Your ancestor must be next JAKOB BLAHNIK born 3rd
Feb 1779 (# 55).Jakob's father Fridrich (Fridericus, Bedrich) Blahnik born about 1738. He married two time. His first wife was Katharina unknown surname. This first wedding was before 1769 because Fridrich with his wife Katharina are recorded 1769 as godparents of Katharina Apfelbeck. I found one child born in this first marriage - Magdalena

Per Judy Rice:
The woman, Janice, who had posted the above info wrote in her email, ".....Anna Vorachek and her descendants, She died a rather tragic death and her five children ended up as wards of the Minnesota State School for Dependent and Neglected Children." She said she has copies of all five children's files. Anna was her great grandmother.She told me that Gertrude Dehm, daughter of John and Anna, was her grandmother and she also has information on her "other four children". I'm not sure whether she meant John and Anna's other 4 children or Gertrudes. I have returned her email. She said she would be happy to share what she has.
