GENEALOGISTSubject: Joseph G. Blahnik, b. 1 March 1867, d. 10 March 1943I was paging through some of the information added to the Blahnik Tree. Under American Immigrants you have mentioned Joseph or Josef Blahnik who settled in Menominee (Menominee County). Joseph was my grandfather, Michael's brother.Census information shows Joseph G. Blahnik born in Algoma, Kewaunee, Wisconsin. 1910, 1920, and 1930 Census show him in Menominee. We always called him "JG"His wife was Bozena Nemetz. Apparently they were married in Kewaunee County, but I have not sourced that as yet. Attached is a picture of them in their store (I hope it works, I have some trouble with attachments being a techno dummy!). From right to left behind the counter in the store are Bozena Nemetz Blahnik, Joseph G. Blahnik, and Emma Blahnik (Edgell) their daughter. The others in the picture are customers of the store. This picture was sent to me by a source in Menominee, MI. She came across it while searching the Klaus side of my family.I am traveling to Menominee in early August to gather source materials. I will be making stops in Green Bay and Algoma on the way, also to find source materials. When I get the sources, I will send them to you.Joseph and Bozena had 6 children that I know of. I do not have all of their information, but what I have came from census information and shows children as: Emma Jayne, b. 21 April, 1893, Menominee, Menominee, MI. d. 19 Nov 1988 (Social Security Death Index) , who married a Kinzy Edgill from Smithfield, W. Va., Joseph, Bozena, Helen, Marion (Maryon, Mariane), and Dorthy are the other children shown on 1910, 1920, and 1930 Census. Let me know if the photo somes through. Thanks.Judith (Judy) Blahnik Rice

From cjr1291added this on 18 Nov 2011The story goes that Fritz was late getting back from his liberty pass and he was being ferried back to his ship by a local boatman with a rowboat. He said that when the Japanese bombs began to fall, you never saw a rowboat move so fast getting back to the shore! Imagine being in that harbor at that time in a rowboat!!!! This was told to me a number of times by my uncle Fritz
