Letter to Lori Dollevoet dated mar 31, 1999 from Francis L. Blahnik, Manitowoc, WI
I had corresponded to him about the birth place of Joseph Blahnik January 28, 1845 stated as Novy Gdyn (or Kdyne) on his marriage certificate.Hi Lori,This is the result of investigation and other researchers. The enclosed map was given to me by Mr. Eugene Schmitt. His wife is a descendant of one of the brothers of my grandmother, Anna Kostka Blahnik. He found the maps at the UW Milwaukee. He & his wife are going to Czechoslovakia in May the find the ancestoral home of the Bugler Family. His wifes maiden name. Last year they went to Germany and found his ancestors. Some of the names are German. NEUGENDIEN is faintly marked in yellow. If you use a magnifying glass just below the name you can see Kdyne. ALTTGEDIEN or old gedien is about a half inch above NEUGEDIEN.On the other page, also marked in yellow is LAUTSCHIM, the German for Loucim. TAUS or Pilsen is to the northwest of Neugedien. The map is dated 1882 and on the right edge is printed PEACE CONFERENCE AT VERSAILLE.I will not be around for a couple of weeks, Grace & I are going to Vero Beach Florida where my brother Dale lives. He has cancer and is not expected to last more than a month. I will e-mail you when we get back.Francis
