Rusty L. Kostka, 45, Gillett, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at home. He was born April 25, 1963, in Oconto Falls, to Wayne and Joann (Miller) Kostka. Rusty was employed by Custom Pallett and Crate Inc, Gillett. Rusty enjoyed spending time and playing with his nieces and helping others. He also enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Rusty is survived by his parents, Wayne and Joann, Shawano; his sisters, Tammy and Douglas Mueller, Saukville; Kathy and Shawn Brei, Shawano; five nieces, Emily, Shelby, and Rylee Brei, Shawano; Hannah and Ella Mueller, Saukville; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.Rusty was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Violet and Clarence Miller; and paternal grandparents, Ann and Frank Kostka.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at the Kuehl Funeral Home, 108 E. Main St. Gillett 920-855-2144. Funeral services 1 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, with Dr. W. H. Winkler officiating. Interment in Pine Hill Cemetery, Spruce.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.

Research by Bob BlahnikJohn J. KobesJohn J. Kobes, age 91, of 1372 Kellner St., Manitowoc, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2426 N. Rapids Road, in Manitowoc, with the Rev. Steven Hahm officiating. Burial will take place in the Mishicot Public Cemetery.
John was born April 22, 1917, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton to the late Bart and Theresa Blahnik Kobes and was baptized in Appleton, too. The family moved to rural Denmark in Brown County shortly after John was confirmed at St. Ann Church in Cherneyville. He graduated from the eighth grade at Lynch School in the town of New Denmark and worked as a farmhand to several neighbors until October of 1938, when he purchased a farm in the town of Mishicot.John married the former Adeline E. Assmann on Nov. 20, 1940, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, where they were members until 1976. In addition to farming, he also worked as a sheet metalist at the Two Creeks Radar Station in its early stages. In 1950, he also became a salesman, masoner and installer of barn equipment for 10 years for Badger Northland of Kaukauna and then for the Little Giant Supply Co. of Manitowoc. He also was a salesman for Ehnert Silos of Kiel. John and Adeline (who tended the farm full time so that John could work out) farmed until May of 1976, when they purchased their retirement home in the city of Manitowoc and became members of Grace Lutheran Church. After his retirement, John did carpentry and masonry work for Mike Check Builders and the Braun Building Supply Co. of Manitowoc. Adeline preceded John in death on Jan. 30, 2006. The couple celebrated 65 years of marriage. John enjoyed playing sheepshead and dancing to "old-time music" during their married life and also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his two daughters and sons-in-law: Carol and Reuben Stuebs, of Kewaunee; and Audrey and Donald Grant, of Kiel; one son and daughter-in-law: Allan and Pat Kobes, of Two Rivers; seven grandchildren: Brian (Sally) Klimesh, Bruce and Mark Klimesh, Janice (Kenneth) Gessert, his Godchild, Karen (Chris) Spagnuolo, Air Force Staff Sgt. David (Jennifer) Grant, Lori (Brian) Schultz; seven great-grandchildren: Joshua, Valene and Darren Marmes, Derrick Mueller and Brett Spindler, Noah and Luke Spagnuolo. John also is survived by his stepgrandchildren: Michelle, Russell and his wife Pearl, Brenda and her husband Paul, and by his stepgreat-grandchildren: Christopher, Tabitha, Joshua, Ashley and Hannah. He is further survived by his four brothers and four sisters-in-law: Edward Kobes, Joseph (Alice) Kobes, George (Verna) Kobes, James (Dorothy) Kobes and Jean Assmann, and by one sister: Mary Erdman, along with numerous nieces and nephews. In additon to his parents and his loving wife, he also was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Kreisa, two brothers: Thomas and Frank Kobes, one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Kobes, sisters-in-law: Cora Kobes and Toni Kobes, his brothers-in-law: Florian and Alfred Assmann and Herbert Erdman.
Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. on Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Manitowoc until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Friday evening visitation. A memorial fund has been established for Grace Lutheran Church of Manitowoc.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the Rev. Tom Pankow for his many home and hospital visits and to the entire staffs of the Aurora Medical Center, Northridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, and to Kindred Hearts Assisted Living for all the care and concerns shown to John during his time of need. Your kindness will always be remembered.
The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting the Kobe family with funeral arrangements.
