BobBMonfils, Joan AnnJoan Ann (Hucek) Monfils, 78, passed away in Green Bay, on July 28, 2013 after a long illness. Joan was born May 22, 1935, in Red River, the daughter of the late Norbert and Irene (Boucher) Hucek. She attended school in Algoma and later graduated from Green Bay East High School. Joan married Edwin F. Monfils on July 17, 1954, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. They celebrated 59 years of marriage this year. She liked helping others through her job at the Brown County Extension Office. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, playing board games and cherished a good game of cards with her relatives. Joan was an avid Packers and Brewers fan. Joan is survived by her husband, Ed; her children and their spouses, Mark and Glenda Monfils, Reidsville, GA; Lois and Douglas Demers, Somersworth, NH; Yvonne and Robert Mennen, Hobart; Bobbi Jo and Kenn Hensrud, Hobart; Cal Monfils and his fianc�, Terri Herbel, Green Bay; grandchildren, Kimberly Monfils, Alan (Brittany) Monfils, Ellen Demers, Nicholas Mennen, Patricia (Jason Grimm) Mennen-Kriescher, Theresa Monfils, John Monfils, Kristophor, Kylee (special friend, Brock Treankler), Kodee Hensrud, Katelynn Monfils, Lathum, Abbie; six great-grandsons, Brady, Brett, Bryce, Cody, Mason and Dalton; one future great-granddaughter; Joan is further survived by her brothers and their spouses, Robert C. and Nancy Knutson, Broken Arrow, OK; Dale and Laureen Knutson, Brookfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Larry Cunningham, Laona; sisters-in-law, Erma Klaus, Carol Besaw, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas John Monfils; her parents, Norbert Hucek and Irene Hucek Knutson; step-father, Herbert C. Knutson. Also a special remembrance to brother-in-law, Alvin Monfils and sister-in-law, Marilyn Monfils. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 645 S. Irwin Ave., after 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Algoma. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established.The family extends a special thank you to all at Woodside Manor, Woodside Lutheran Home and Unity Hospice for their guidance and support. Richard F. Hucek, 81, Algoma, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit. He was born Nov. 1, 1918 in Misere to the late John and Rose Cesar Hucek. As a young man, he entered the U.S. Army and served in France and Trinidad during World War II. He served as a mechanic in the motor pool, working on anything that was brought in. After his discharge, he returned to Algoma and married Marie Jacobson in Ephraim on Feb. 23, 1946. Richard first worked at Blahnik's Garage as a mechanic for a few years, then worked at the Algoma Foundry, which later became Badger Northland, as a machinist. Richard retired in 1983 from which was then the Calumet Co. in Algoma. He was a former member of the American Legion. Richard is suvived by his wife, Marie, of 54 years; one son and two daughters; two grandchildren; three brothers, Harold, Columbus, Ohio; Robert, Algoma; and Kenneth, Comptche, Calif.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and James. Friends called at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, on Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 4-8 p.m., and from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Becky Kindschi officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma.

Robert Donald Hucek, 84, Algoma, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Bellin Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Algoma, to John and Rose (Cesar) Hucek. Robert entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served during World War II. After his discharge in 1946, he worked for Wisconsin Public Service for many years. Robert married June Fagg Sept. 14, 1950. He was an active Boy Scout Leader for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 236, Algoma. Robert is survived by his wife, June; his four sons; four grandchildren; and one brother, Ken Hucek.
