Thos. Janda Sr. Is Taken By Death
Death Writes Last Chapter of Family Tragedy Last Thursday Morning
Death wrote the final chapter of a double tragedy, when Thomas Janda, aged 73, died at a local hospital on Thursday morning of last week at 4:30 o'clock. The aged man, an invalid for several years, had resided with his son, John Janda, on Kilbourn street for several years, and apparently despondent over the fact that there was no hope for the recovery of his invalid father, the son, John Janda, took his own life by hanging in the cellar of their home a few weeks ago.
At that time, the sick man was removed to a hospital for medical care and attention, but he failed gradually and the end came last Thursday.
Thomas Janda, Sr. was born in Bohemia in the year 1847, immigrating to the United States with his parents when he was 14 years old. The family located on a farm in West Kewaunee, and there he spent the greater part of his life. He was married in that town to Miss Minnie Walecka, who preceded him in death a number of years ago. One son, Thomas Janda, Jr., residing on the old homestead, survives him.
The funeral services were held last Friday afternoon from the Svoboda Undertaking parlors at 2:30 o'clock, with Mr. B.F. Cmejla officiating in the Bohemian language, and interment was in Riverview cemetery here. The pallbearers were Edward Brusky, George and John Repitz, Wencil and John Janda, and Reginald Plohar.More About THOMAS JANDA:
