OBITUARY
------------------------------------------------------ CHARLES WACHAL Funeral services for Charles Wachal, prominent farmer of Carlton township who died at the Cmeyla hospital in this city last Friday after a lingering illness, were held on Monday at St. John's Church in Krok with the Rev. From the union two sons and four daughters also survive: Agnes, who is Mrs. John Stodola of Pilsen, and Charles, Milos, Anna,Eleanor and Marcella, all residing on the Carlton farm. Three grandchildren, Inez and Charlotte Stodola and Charles Wachal, Jr;. and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Pribek, Sr. of Krok and Mrs. Anton Staral and Mrs. Joseph Dworak of Norman, also mourn Mr. Wachal's death.
The pallbearers were Joseph Stodola, John Stodola, Jacob Huber, Thomas Granchalek, Matt Krines and Emil Vlasak. Undertaker A. M. Buchanan had charge of the funeral arrangements.

Old resident of Carlton Succumbs at

--------------------------
FUNERAL WAS HELD THURSDAY
--------------------------
Came to This County From Bohemia
In 1865At the home of her son Charles Wachal, in the town of Carlton, Mrs. Katherine Wachal died on October the 4th.
Another one of that band of hardy pioneers who came to Kewaunee County more than fifty-five years ago has answered the final call. She was one of those fine hard-working settlers who has helped in every real way a woman can help in the development and prosperity of Kewaunee County. Full of ambition she came to Kewaunee County in 1865 and married Chas. Wachal in the town of Carlton and as wife mother , neighbor and friend she loved and respected by allwho had the pleasure of coming within the circle of her acquaintanceship. Her husband Charles Wachal, Sr. died about eleven years ago and an eldest daughter, Mrs. Michael Meyer died a few years ago so that she found some consolation in looking forward to that time when she could again join her husband and daughter and those departed near friends of years ago.Mrs. Katherina Wachal was born at Kout in Bohemia on the 24th day of August 1846 and came to Kewaunee County in 1865 and has resided in the town of Carlton ever since. Since the death of her husband she has resided with her son Charles Wachal. The funeral was held at 10 o'clock Thursdaymorning on October the 7th and the serviceswere conducted ny Rev. Shimek of Tisch Mills ST. Johns Catholic church of which organization she was a faithful member. She is survived by her sons Charles Wachal of Carlton, John Wachal of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Jos. Pribek of Montpelier and Mrs. Anton Staral and Mrs. Jos. Dworak both of the town of Carlton.
Slowly they pass on. Sometimes it seems we hardly appreciate the debt of gratitude we owe to those early pioneer men and women who have done so much to make Kewaunee County such a fine community in which to live and enjoy so many comforts and advantages. In the very course of Nature the times come when they lay down the burden and answer the final summons. Mrs. Wachal was of that personality who carried her responsibilities cheerfully and who found her greatest satisfaction among her devoted sons and daughters and the large number of grandchildren and the knowledge of having done her very best to live a good life.

CARLTON MOTHER
---------------
Mrs. Charles Wachal Died
Of Heart Attack Monday
Eve; Funeral Thursday
---------------------
Sorrow descended upon the Carlton community shortly before six o'clock Monday evening when it became known that Mrs. Charles Wachal, 23 years old, had been stricken with a heart attack and had passed away suddenly at her home in that township.
Mrs. Wachal had been in excellent health up to the very moment of her death, and the suddenness with which the grim reaper entered the happy Wachal home added to the shock of her untimely death.
Born Libbie Vlasak on November 11, 1913, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Emil Vlasak, she spent her entire life in Carlton and was known and admired by a large circle of friends. Her grief-stricken parents, husband and two infant children are left to mourn her loss.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 Thursday morning from St. John's Church at Krok, with the Rev. Svatek officiating, and burial was in the parish cemetery. A large funeral, and many beautiful floral tributes, indicated the sincere sorrow which the entire community felt at her death.
