Vonckx, Joyce Ann Joyce Ann Vonckx, 84, Ashwaubenon, died Sunday morning, Dec. 28, 2008, at Woodside Manor II, with her family at her side. Joyce was born June 11, 1924, the daughter of Anna (Hucek) and John Monfort. She grew up in Green Bay and graduated from Green Bay West High School with the Class of 1942. She met her beloved husband, Donald Arthur Vonckx during her high school years at West High. They were married on Oct. 24, 1945, and had three children.Joyce had a great love for music and the arts and came from a musical family. She enjoyed the performances at the Weidner and Meyer Theaters, as well as the local plays and musicals at the "Box in the Woods" Mielke Theater in Shawano. When the music played, her foot was always tapping and the words were always sung where ever she would be. She also enjoyed many years of fun and camaraderie with family and friends at their cottage "THE BARN" at Lost Lake and camping at Peninsula Park.Joyce was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish and was active in helping to organize the founding of the parish. She sang with the Nativity choir for many years until illness caused her to retire. Joyce liked to be on the go and enjoyed traveling near or far; whether it be to visit family and friends at a great distance, or to just go to the local restaurant for homemade chicken dumpling soup. She was a member of the Red Hats Club and Special Friends and the "Box in the Woods" Theater Guild.She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Roger Folkerts, Cecil; Pam and Jim Girtz, Green Bay; one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kathy Vonckx, Appleton. She is further survived by seven grandchildren, Chris Garrity, Marinette; Sean (Shae) Garrity, Camano Island, Wash.; Colleen Garrity, Platteville; Steve (Melissa) Watermolen, Chesapeake, Va.; Heather (Jeff) Welnetz, Kiel; Rob Vonckx, Derek Vonckx, both of Lexington, Ky.; six great-grandchildren, Sam Garrity, Be'Lit Garrity, Sarah Watermolen, Thomas Watermolen, Alex Welnetz and Zachary Welnetz; nine stepgrandchildren, Mike (Patty) Folkerts, Shelly (Al) Kamps, Brian (Becky) Folkerts, Ted (Shelly) Girtz, Lori (Rob) Rowe, Amy (Paul) Besson, Chrissy (Tony) Balthazor, Mike Blemberg, Brigit Blemberg; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren; Tara Stickney, Bobby (Jenny) Stickney, K.C. Kamps, Pierce, Dalton, Korbin, Hudson and Isabel Folkerts, McKenna, Mitch and Maguire Girtz, Josh and Abby Besson, Jordon and Haley Wyman, Evan, Graham and Lily Balthazor; three step-great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Koeppen; three brothers, Bud, John (Dee), and Mark Monfort, all of Green Bay; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Monfort and Janet Boyea; two brothers-in-law, Donald Koeppen and Howard Boyea.Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Friends may also call at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. John Becker officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
