Subject: BlahnikKen and Lori, Hi, I live in Antigo, WI. Yes I am Edward's daughter.I'm the 6th of 7 children. In Adolph's line there were a few missing. I believe Alice must be Sylvia and Alvie must have been Alfred. ( He died June 23, 2001 at age 90 ). Both Sylvia and Alfred never married. Between Alfred and Mabel (Totzke), there was Irene ( Dufek ). She lived in Kewaunee all her married life. Between Melvin and Adolph Jr., there was Daniel and Marie (Narloch). Mabel, Milas, and Marie are the only ones left now. Mabel and Milas are both in the Antigo area. Marie lives in Florida. Thanks for the info on Earnest. His mother Emily was my Granpas only sister. My mother and her ancestors are pure blood Bohemians (originally independent, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, now part of the Czech Republic). My OURADNIK ancestors emigrated from Bohemia in 1857 at the urging of in-laws who surname was STIKA (including Jan/John Stika, b. abt 1815). They settled in Kewaunee County, Wisconsin, and most of the descendants still live in or near Kewaunee County.I have been able to locate the ancestral village of these STIKA's in Bohemia. It is hardly a common name in the United States, but I would not suggest that all STIKA's are related or that they come from the same village or district in Bohemia. As for Otto Albert Stika, I have no knowledge of any Illinois Stika's (though some of the Bohemians in WI did migrate into Chicago, including some of mine). I would suggest utilizing the ANCESTRY.COM service that includes telephone listings. I found no less than SIX different STIKA families living in UTAH, out of only 125 total listings (or 1 in 20). They could all be recent migrants, or one or more might be related to your OTTO ALBERT STIKA. Why not try writing to them??Also, when you decide to trace them back to Bohemia (if they are Bohemian), -please get a hold of me. Census records and or church records and/or civil registrations in Illinois should give some clues as to the birthplace of the parents, etc. Try looking for the parents in the WI Census indexes (both the federal and the state [1885,1895,1905]). Maybe you can tie in to one of my WI families.Best of luck. JSZ

I just received information from the Czech Republic of where the Stika, Lukes, Opicka, Ouradnick, came from. Jankovska Lhota, a small village of 35 farms. South of Prague. Records in Prague. Jan/Johann was the first to imigrate to the Slovan area in 1855. Katherine was an Ouradnick. Most of the other families from village of Jankovska Lhota, came on the ship, Leontine August 31, 1857 to the Slovan area.

Did you ever get your information on your family in question? I had heard from the Czech Republic in 2003 with pictures of the Stika home still in the family of Jankoveska Lhota. He also sent me a pictures of others all from the same village that settled in the Town of Casco in Slovan. I think I have already contacted your relative in Luxemburg area. She was an accordian player.

djockinga Hi, my name is Patty Ronzani, my grandmother was Anna Marsicek Knapmiller. Her aunt was Katherina Marsicek Ouradnik. Katherina'a husband Joseph Ouradnik was the half- brother of Katerina Ouradnik wife of John Stika. They came to America as you say on 9/1/1855. I show Katerina's parents as Frantisek Ouradnik and Anna Pesek. Joseph's parents are Frantisek and Annie Sochor. If you are interested I made a copy of a story written by Jan Ouradnik, Joseph's brother, which I found at the Kewaunee Library. The original was written in Bohemian. The copy I have was translated by Jan's son.

Hi Lori,
I would scan my copies of the passenger list index, but I don't know how to send it to you and can't catch Jon. Anyway, I just found them both on Ancestry again, although I can't seem to get into the actual passenger lists or the ship name, but I have that info.
I entered Wenzel's name as spelled on the list and put in birth of 1847. Key word - I put in the port of entry.Wenzel Blanik:immigration: 1872
