Hucek, FrankFrank Hucek, 82, of DePere, formerly of Forestville, died at St. Vincent Hospital on Friday, Oct. 10. He was born on June 11, 1921, the son of Frank and Mary (Blahnik) Hucek. He was a lifelong resident of Forestville until his illness prompted his move to DePere three years ago. He was a graduate of Algoma High School. He married the former Lillian Paul on May 30, 1944, at Holy Trinity Church in Casco. He was engaged in farming and also was a longtime employee of Peterson Builders Inc., retiring in 1985. He belonged to the Peterson Builders Retiree Club, and was a past member of the Maplewood-Forestville Senior Citizens Club. He was instrumental in getting the Bay View Terrace retirement home built in Forestville. He was also a member of Holy Name of Mary Parish in Maplewood. After his retirement, Frank enjoyed going on trips. He loved gardening, fishing and hunting, playing cards, but most of all he loved working in his workshop. He spent many hours making remembrances, including furniture. Frank also enjoyed making or fixing things on his lathe. Another favorite pastime that he loved was going to his son's woods for quiet time and watching the birds.He is survived by Lillian, his wife of 59 years; two daughters, Dianne (Larry) Van Beek of Green Bay; and Debra (Ken) Rebitz of San Diego; two sons, David (Betty) Hucek of Appleton; and Dean (Barb) Hucek ofForestville; and three grandchildren, Brian Hucek, Dana and Nicholas Rebitz; one sister, Helen Rohr, Forestville.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Marvin and Lloyd; one brother-in-law, John Rohr, and his mother and father-in-law.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name of Mary Church in Maplewood. Burial will be in the church cemetery on Hwy. 42. Visitation will be at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. A prayer service will be conducted on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.We want to thank all who offered comfort and support to Frank and our family during his lengthy illness. We also want to thank the staff at St. Vincent Hospital who cared for Frank. Special thanks to Royce Un Dialysis Center, especially his primary physician, Dr. John Lawton.

Posted January 30, 2008Hucek, Minerva Minerva Marie Antoinette Hucek, 88, Sturgeon Bay, died at Door County Memorial Hospital on Jan. 28, 2008. She was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Brussels, to Jule and Rose (Ronsman) Soquet. Minerva grew up in Gregorville with her parents. She graduated from the Gregor School and then Algoma High School in 1937. She worked at the Algoma Plywood and many years at the ForestVilla in Forestville. Minerva married Lloyd Hucek on Dec. 28, 1943, at St. Huberts Church in Rosiere and lived in the Forestville area for 37 years. Lloyd preceded her in death on June 25, 1980. She moved to Sturgeon Bay in 1993. Minerva was a good cook, gardener, and enjoyed her family and friends. Survivors include, seven children, Carol Wilke, Suamico; Joe (Irene) Hucek, Forestville; Nancy Dufek, Sturgeon Bay; Jan (Tracy) Hucek, Sturgeon Bay; Lori Hucek, Sturgeon Bay; Jay (Kris) Hucek, Green Bay; Patti (Paul) Schmitt, Sturgeon Bay; 15 grandchildren, Dawn, Scott and Chris Corbisier, Teri Rass; Tricia Jenkins; Andrew Hucek; Eric Dufek; Evan, Nolan, Holly, and Hope Hucek; Connor Hucek; Kendra, Heather and Preston Schmitt; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Bernard (Carol) Soquet, Mountain; two sisters, Clara Peterson, Casco; Eunice Lemense, Algoma; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Tracy Hucek; brother and sister-in-law, Edwin (Norma) Soquet; son-in-law, Lynn Wilke; and brothers-in-law, Allen Jennerjohn and Clarence Peterson; also a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen (John) Rohr; brothers-in-law, Frank and Marvin Hucek. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at Holy Name of Mary Church, the Rev. Bob Konkol, OFM, officiating. Burial in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Forbes Funeral Home and then after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church until time of services. A prayer service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered from www.forbesfuneralhome.com. The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at DCMH for the loving and supportive care given to Minerva and her family. From Bob BlahnikHucek, Ruth G.Ruth G. Hucek, 93, Anna's House in New Franken, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center. She was born December 29, 1918 in the Town of Ahnapee to Frank and Sarah (Herrison) Wierichs. Ruth graduated from the Algoma High School. She married Marvin Hucek in Algoma on June 9, 1942. She worked as a waitress and made all the pies for the Forestvilla Hall in Forestville in the late 60's early 70's. But mainly Ruth was a stay at home mom taking care of her six children. She enjoyed crocheting and she made afghans for all her children and many of the grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and baker. Ruth was a member of the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Maplewood since her marriage to Marvin in 1942. The most important thing in Ruth's life was her family.Ruth is survived by her six children Jean Neuville, Green Bay; Don (June), Forestville; Allen (Peggy), New Franken; Gail (Bill) Popp, Green Bay; Sue (Steve) Pillow, Lee's Summit, MO; and Jeff (Laurie), Crivitz; 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one sister-in-law Lillian Hucek, Allouez; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin on September 17, 1984, one brother Elmer (Eleanor) Wierichs and one sister Marie (Ray) Kostichka.Friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 4 - 8 p.m. on Monday August 27, 2012 and then after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Maplewood until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Anthony Birdsall and Deacon Paul Zenefski officiating. Prayer service 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
