 Robert Blahnik  January 28, 2007

Our beloved friend, husband, father, son, brother, neighbor, fishing and hunting partner, Packers fan, Lambeau tailgater, Coach Bob, parishioner, salesman, life of the garage party, chef, rugby wingman, team player, lover of life, and one of God's own special people was called to heaven after a courageous year-long struggle with cancer. Bob battled the hardships of his illness with the same fierce devotion he applied to life: with honor, dignity, and his trademark sense of humor surrounded by an awesome support group of family and friends.

Robert "Bob" "Blons" Blahnik was born in Green Bay, Wis. on July 9, 1957, the second of five sons to Dr. Gus and Marie Blahnik. He attended parochial school in New Orleans, La., before moving to Green Bay in 1971. He was an Abbot Pennings Squire, graduating in 1975. He received a B.A. from Spring Hill College and later achieved a Masters in Business Administration from Thunderbird University. Early in his career he worked in defense contracting for Hughes Aircraft in Southern California. In 1992 he relocated to our hometown of Green Bay, settling down and marrying his California hottie Kelly (nee Berryman). He was a sales representative for Belson Company for over 12 years.

He will always be the loving and devoted father and perfect role model for his three sons, Kory, Tyler and Bobby. His children were his pride and joy of his too shortened life. He enjoyed coaching them and their teammates in all sports programs. Bob was a vibrant and unique man in many ways. He loved life voraciously in all its aspects: his family, his career, his community of friends and coworkers and all the other great Packers fans in section 7. People were naturally drawn to him due to his contagious zest for living. If you could not appreciate the value of a good hard laugh, you never knew Bob.

As a rugby player, he tested his mettle in the scrum since the age of 17. He played for many clubs across the country, including the American Eagles, the U.S. traveling team. Those who were lucky enough to see him play always remarked on his toughness and speed. He carried on the game with both grace and class. His other true devotion was for the outdoors. He saw the sunrise many a morning from the quiet of the boat, duck blind, or tree stand. He was forever fond of his four brothers and they in turn of him.

He is survived in this world by his loving wife, Kelly; their three sons, Kory, Tyler, and Bobby Blahnik, Green Bay; parents, Dr. Gus and Marie Blahnik, Green Bay; older brother, Scott (Dolly) and nephews, Austin, Chase and Colin Blahnik, New Orleans, La.; younger brothers Mark Blahnik, Costa Mesa, Calif; and Greg (Suzette) and nieces, Courtney and Katie and nephew, Brett Blahnik, Port Orange, Fla.; and youngest brother, Pierre Blahnik, San Luis Obispo, Calif. Also survived by Kelly's parents, Bruno and Barbara Berryman, Orange, Calif.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins also carry memories of Bob with them in this life.   Buried at Allouez Cemetery, Brown Co, WI

Marjorie (Blahnik) Bake, 86 of Oconto passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 17, 2012. Marjorie was born on April 3, 1925 in Lena to Clarence and Marie (Valley) Blahnik. She graduated from Lena High School in 1943. During the war she worked at a defense plant machine shop. She also worked as a clerk at Northern Paper Company, and was the bookkeeper for the family business Bake Brothers Buick, Olds and GMC dealership.

One memorable and exciting moment for her was a hole-in-one at the Oconto Golf Course on August 23, 1996, where she golfed regularly with her friends in the ladies golf league. In addition to golfing, she enjoyed playing bridge, reading, gardening, solving all the puzzles in the daily newspaper, and following the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and Oconto Blue Devils.

Marjorie is survived by her six children Mike (Patsy) Bake, Oconto; Jackie Bake, Oconto Falls; Christy (LeRoy) Rausch, Park Rapids, MN; Carol (Mark) Matenaer, West Bend; Jon (Jennifer) Bake, DePere; Teresa (Doug) Riemer, DePere; eleven grandchildren Billy and Jon Bake, Lauren (Mark) Resch, Jocelyn and Stephanie Gerndt, Nathan and Megan Rausch, Kyle and Ryan Matenaer, Shelby and Erin Bake, her brother and sister-in-law Dr. Clarence Gus and Marie Blahnik, sisters-in-law Patricia Bake and Judy Hanes, and brothers-in-law Hollis Hanes and Gerald Weigelt. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Bill Bake, her parents, Clarence and Marie Blahnik, her sister Marion and brother-in-law George Glime; her sister Esther (Sister Angele Marie, SSND); brothers-in-law, Patrick, Douglas, Thomas and Robert Bake; sisters-in-law, Margaret Bake; nephews, Bob Blahnik, Joe Glime and Roger Glime, and a great-niece, Stacey Vorpahl.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 12 Noon Friday at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial of Bill and Marjorie Bake will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Green Bay Press Gazette October 12, 2004 Vorpahl, Stacey Lynn  19, Fort Atkinson, died peacefully at home on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, surrounded by family and friends. Many have followed Staceys story in the media through the years. Stacey, a vivacious redhead with a joy for life and a never-ending smile, was born in Madison on Jan. 3, 1985. She started out in life just like any other child. An enlarged spleen was discovered at age 2, which led to a diagnosis of Niemann-Pick Type C Disease. This rare metabolic disease, which results in deterioration of the central nervous system, struck in full force by the age of 7 with the first onset of seizures. By 8, Stacey was no longer walking or talking. By age 9, she had lost her ability to swallow, leading to a feeding tube, and chronic respiratory complications. The disease continued its steady progression with Stacey requiring total care to make her comfortable in her final years. Despite all her suffering, Stacey continued to inspire us all with her tremendous spirit, her joy for life and her contagious smile. Stacey touched many people in her short life, motivating her parents to join with others to establish the National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation bringing together families around the world suffering from this rare disorder, offering hope for a cure. Even in her death, Stacey continued to give with a donation of her brain and tissue for research. She is a true hero! Stacey is survived by her parents, Gary and Barb (Glime) Vorpahl, Fort Atkinson; her sister, Kimberly Vorpahl, Madison; maternal grandparents, George and Marion Glime, Lena; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and caregivers. Her paternal grandparents, Norman and Deloris Vorpahl of Collins, Wis., preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fort Atkinson on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Chris Buckingham Taylor officiating.Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 2 p.m. A private graveside ceremony will be held on Friday, Oct. 15. In lieu of flowers, the family asks we help save other children from this rare disorder by making a donation in her name to the National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation (NNPDF), 415 Madison Ave., Fort Atkinson, WI 53538, www.nnpdf.org. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to a new understanding With the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile Leave footprints on our hearts, And we will never, ever be the same. Dunlap Memorial Home is assisting the family.
