JOSEPH⁶ (JG) BLAHNIK, (JACOB A.⁵ BLAHNIK  (GEORG⁴, GEORGIUS³, JACOBUS², WENCESLAUS¹) b. March 01, 1868 Algoma, WI .  He married Bozena Nemetz on July 2, 1892 at Slovan, Kewaunee Co, WI.   She was the daughter of Joseph Nemetz 1850-1906 and Barbara Spacek 1847-1936  (Both of Knute Hora, Bohemia and dying in Kewaunee Co, WI).  Bozena was born May 28, 1870 in Springfield, MA and died November 29, 1955 in Menominee, MI.  Joseph (JG) died March 11, 1943 in Menominee Falls, WI.  JG worked in a Lumber Mill in 1892 and had moved from Kewaunee Co, WI to Menominee, MI.  By 1904 they bought a Grocery Store at Dunlap and Belleview and ran that for many years. Emma Jayne Blahnik Edgell was born in Menominee, MI on April 21, 1893.  She is the daughter of Joseph G. Blahnik and Bozena Nemetz Blahnik.  Emma married Kinzy Edgell of Smithfield, WV, in Denver.  The Edgell's son, Alvin George, was born on February 3, 1924 in Kansas City, KS.  The Edgell family moved to Menominee in 1935.  Kinzy died on Aug 6, 1970.  Emma now lives near her birthplace on Holmes (13th) Avenue.
Emma's parents, Joseph and Bozena, moved to Menominee after their marriage on July 2, 1892.  J.G. Blahnik worked in the lumbering mills for a time.  In 1904, he bought for $1,400, a grocery store at the corner of Dunlap and Belleview.  The Blahnik store sold first groceries, then added dry-goods, hardware and grain.  Emma worked in the store for about ten years.
It was the time, Emma says, "of street cars and saloons.  Groceries were delivered by horse and buggy. Our store did a large country trade. Farmers living on State Road (577) came from twelve miles away to trade or barter their butter in jars and eggs in crates for groceries.  Before the care age, they used bob-sleds drawn by horses in the winter."
Joseph and Bozena Nemetz Blahnik married in Kewaunee, WI.  Joseph was born on March 11, 1868 in Algoma, WI and died on march 11, 1943 in Menominee, MI.  Bozena Nemetz was born on May 28, 1870 in Springfield, MA.  She died on Nov. 29, 1955.  
Joseph George and Bozena Blahnik had six children: Emma, Joseph (deceased), Bozena (deceased), Helen, Marion and Dorothy (deceased). Emma's grandparents on her father's side were Jacob  Blahnik born July 25, 1837 in Bohemia and Catherine Datanger [should be Gettinger] Blahnik, born Nov 11, 1842 in Austria.  Jacob and Catherine were married on June 12, 1857 in Algoma, WI.  Emma's grandparents on her mother's side were Joseph Nemetz, born in 1850, and Barbara Spacek Nemetz, born in 1847, both of Knute Hora, Bohemia.  They both died in Kewaunee, WI: Joseph, March 13, 1906 and Barbara, Dec 18, 1936.  Joseph [Nemetz] died following an accident in the woods.  Emma's son, Alvin George Edgell, married Zelma (Zee) Tucker Edgell Tucker of Belize City, Belize, on Sept 14, 1968.  They have two children, Holly Emma Veronica, born 1969 in Belize City, Belize, and Randal Clive Kinzy, born  1975 in Kabul, Afghanistan.
