BETTE JANE⁸ BLAHNIK  (RICHARD JOSEPH⁷, FRANK JOHN⁶, GEORGE⁵, GEORG⁴, GEORGIUS³, JACOBUS², WENCESLAUS¹ was born August 23, 1926 in Racine, WI^. and died October 26, 2006 in Appleton, WI.  She married (1) DEANE ELLSWORTH SPILMAN January 01, 1945 in Appleton, WI, son of THOMAS SPILMAN and WINNIE FRY.  He was born October 26, 1920 in Clear Lake, IA, and died May 29, 1998 in Mason City, IA.  She married (2) DWAIN OTTO (NICK) NICKASCH March 12, 1966 in Appleton, WI, son of RUBEN NICKASCH and STELLA SCHULTZ.  He was born September 29, 1931 in Appleton, WI, and died May 28, 2007 in Appleton, Outagamie Co, WI.

Bette was born August 23, 1926 at 512 Island Ave. Racine, WI to Richard Blahnik and Rose Londre Blahnik.  She had an older set of Identical Twin sisters who died before she was born.  Bette had a younger brother who died in infancy and a sister named Joyce who was 4 years younger.  She was 5' 3 3/4" talk and had dark hair with pale blue eyes.

Bette's stepfather, Frank Frye,  had a nephew named Deane Spilman that she married on January 01, 1945 in Appleton, WI during his leave in the WWII service for the Air Force. They later lived in Mason City, IA

Bette and Deane divorced November 17, 1959. They had four children: Jayne, Tom, Dee, Lori. Bette returned to Appleton with her children. 

On March 12, 1966 she married Dwain Otto (Nick) Nickasch. (photo taken in 1981). Bette and Nick had a son named Paul.

Death Certificate shows Bette was 80 years old, born on Aug 23, 1926 and died Oct 26, 2006 at her home on 820 E. Washington St. Appleton, WI.  She had lived there since August on 1963. Daughter of Richard Joseph Blahnik and Melva Rose Londre.  She had worked many years at Lawrence University in Appleton and was retired.  She died from uterine/cervical cancer of a 3 year duration.

Bette passed away peacefully at her home on October 26, 2006 surrounded by her family. She was born in Racine, WI on August 23, 1926 to Richard and Rose (Londre) Blahnik. Bette�s Step-Father was Frank Frye. Bette grew up in Appleton and was known as the Ginger Rogers at Appleton High School for her Jitterbug dancing. In 1945 Bette married Deane Spilman who was in the Air Force during WWII. After living in Mason City, IA for many years she returned to her hometown of Appleton and married Dwain (Nick) Nickasch. She enjoyed going to the cottage her father, Richard Blahnik built on Lake Poygan, as well as gardening, crocheting, word puzzles, her Canary, her jukebox, fishing, dancing, and spending time with her family. Bette worked for 25 years at Lawrence University.
Bette is survived by her children: Jayne (Richard) Skibba, Thomas (Jacki) Spilman, The Rev. Dee (Bruce) Sim, Lori (Kenneth) Dollevoet, and Paul (Lynnette) Nickasch. Bette has seven grandchildren: Lance (Aimee) Christopher; Tee Jay, Katie, and Blake Spilman; Grant Sim; Cassandra and Alicia Nickasch; and several step-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Richard Blahnik, Melva Rose (Londre) Frye, and step-father Frank Frye. Bette�s sister Joyce LaCount-Clark died in 2000. Bette also had 3 siblings: Richard Blahnik, Jr. and identical twin sisters: June Rose and Jeanette Marie who all died in childhood.
Funeral services for Bette will be held on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Star of Hope Chapel Mausoleum inside Highland Memorial Park (3131 North Richmond Street) with the Rev. Wendy Wirth-Brock officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, October 29 from 2 until 4 P.M. and again on Monday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service directly in the chapel. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park.

Dwain O. "Nick" Nickasch of Appleton, age 75, passed away with his son, Paul, by his side ot Appleton Medical Center on Monday, May 28, 2007.  He was born in Appleton on September 29, 1931, son of the late Rueben and Stella (Schultz) Nickasch.  On March 12, 1966, he married Bette (Blahnik-Frye) Spilman. Nick was employed by the City of Appleton as the groundskeeper for Goodland Field, home of the Appleton Foxes (Baseball team).  He played many sports including High School football and basketball.  Nick was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #367. in Appleton.  He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, bowling as well as officiating and coaching many sports.  He was proud of his two "300" and one "299" bowling scores.  His hobbies included playing cards and being a very avid fisherman at the cottage on Lake Poygan.  His two granddaughters were his pride and joy. 
Nick is survived by his children: Paul (Lynette) Nickasch of Appleton, Jayne (Richard) Skibba of Menasha, Thomas (Jacki) Spilman of New London, The Rev. Debra "Dee" (Bruce) Sim, of Neenah and Lori (Kenneth) Dollevoet of Fremont; grandchildren: Cassandra and Alicia Nickasch; Lance (Aimee) Christopher; Katie, TeeJay and Blake Spilman; and Grant Sim; sister, Lois (James) Ver Kuilen of Appleton.  He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nick was preceded in death by his wife, Bette; brothers: Norman and Harlan Nickasch; sister, Marion (Clifford) Lappen.
